About

This blog began as a diary of the first year of attempts to renovate and seed a hillside allotment plot above Stoke town, starting in September 2012. It was a success, and a lot was done in around 18 months in all. Much of the plot was made productive again and cropped. But the onset of a bad hip meant that I had to give up the plot and hand it on.

The blog continues and still occasionally links to local news about gardens and allotments. I also blog here about my side-interests in other 'down-to-earth' local matters — such as litter and littering; dangerous dogs in public green spaces; parts of Hartshill and the town of Stoke-upon-Trent; and party politics in Stoke-on-Trent (but only when it's less tedious than usual).

Enjoy!
